I'm posting a link to the remote collector page for Spiceworks, which absolutely supports a multi-site setup using remote collectors. It outwits all other factoring monitoring tools. Labtech is the most complete monitoring system. Spiceworks Monitoring tool is only for LAN use, no WAN connection to the PCs/Servers. It monitors not only locally, but abroad. Works awesome, has a lot of meat and potatoes, functionality. Another drawback that I am experiencing is that it is kind of a pain to create a cert for it when using a public CA. You can import MIB files from manufacturers for specific functions. Sometimes it will suggest sensors for things you couldn't care less about and other times, you will want to manually add service or powershell sensors. I have almost 900 sensors and I am a one man shop at an SMB, so if you decide to trial it, make sure that you are really aware of what you want to monitor and what you don't care about. I tried to get them to sell me what I wanted, but they don't have any customization. 500 to 1000 is a significant upgrade and the next tier is from 1000 to 2500! So if you need 1001, you will be paying for 2500. It has already alerted me to an AC issue last weekend :)Īnother thing to note, is that they should come up with a smaller gab between the tiers for purchasing sensors. I have the Android app setup and get push notifications to it. But that is true for any product in this class. The only thing is that it takes a bit to fine tune and dial in what you want. It doesn't use any agents, so that is one less thing to worry about. It was far and away easier to deploy using default SNMP, WMI sensors than anything I have tried. I just deployed PRTG in the beginning of Feb. All, except maybe Opsview and SolarWinds had a steep learning curve and took a ton of time, patience and tweaking just to get them going, let alone dialed in. Cacti, CactiEZ, Nagios, The Dude, Opsview, SolarWinds IPmonitor and a few others. Over the years, I have tried several products.
